About Us
We are a small business located in Washington, Iowa. We have been building saddles since 1996 along with other horse/mule tack and leather goods. The shop began with Nick’s interest in horses and wanting to learn to build good fitting, quality gear. He first hired an experienced saddle maker to teach him how to get started and has taken classes from many others along the way. Sue also has taken classes to learn the art of carving leather.
Our saddles have been sold all across the US. Many of our customers bring their horse or mule to have a saddle tree fitting before the order is placed.
We sell both the saddles we make and a few lines of factory saddles as well other leather goods. We also do custom leather clicking and have made products for wholesale clients, and repair saddles and leather goods.
As you click through our product galleries you will see just small sample of the items we have handcrafted over the years. We build saddle bags, chinks, headstalls, reins, spur straps, belts, suspenders, cell phone cases, wallets, holsters, knife cases and many other special requests. We can customize your items with your brand, a sentimental carving or match piece you already have.
When we are not working in our shop we can usually be found visiting with our 9 grandchildren, biking, or camping with our mules.
